The Company
Established in 1947, Emery’s Building Contractors have a strong reputation that’s built on trust. Family owned and run, the Bath based Builders specialise in restoration and renovation, development projects, joinery and new build developments.
The Project
In August 2018, the team were appointed the task of complete refurbishment of an area of private land in a small and picturesque Wiltshire village. Set to boast seven bedrooms, an orangery and a private outdoor pool, the manor has an estimated completion date of November 2020.
Currently in the first fix stage, the twenty-five strong site team are in the process of erecting the shell, a process that traditionally takes between 3 months and a year for an average sized family home.
Challenges
To date, the team have only experienced one minor set-back, in the form of a collapsed trench to the basement. As any construction professional knows, a challenge of this nature not only impacts the project timeline but it also presents significant potential danger for site workers. With their years of experience, Emery’s had yet to send their team down, and were able to resolve the issue using a “batter back” approach, whereby the excavation wall was stabilised through precise angling.
Aside from this issue, the project has run smoothly – and there has been no impact on the estimated completion date and project timeline, something Site Manager Paul credits to a good team ethic.
