Skittles fun in Portsmouth!
As many of you know, we support local charities within our Trade Stores and run a fundraising event in every store once a year!
Our last event was at our Portsmouth store – where customers were challenged with tabletop skittles and lucky winners were awarded a strukta power bank. Thanks to the generosity and spirit of all our visitors, we managed to raise £170.88 for Rowans Hospice who provide hospice care expertise in all settings by working with the NHS, other partners and the community. Their focus is on helping people cope with life-limiting illnesses, death and bereavement.
Pie Extravaganza in Andover.
Our Andover store was next up for their struktaSMILE event, supporting the Abel Foundation who provide support to sufferers of Mitochondrial disease and help their families deal with this life-threatening disease, for which there is currently no cure.
As March marked the great staple that is British Pie Week, we decided to challenge our Andover team to perfect and present their best pie! We saw an array of delicious sweet and savoury treats, and the winning pie was a delicious chocolatey number. With staff donating for a slice, it was great to be able to raise money for this great cause.
Andover Foodbank collection.
The team at Andover also spent the beginning of the year collecting for the local Foodbank. The organisation help support the local community by providing an invaluable lifeline to those in crisis.
struktaSMILE Successes:
As always, we’ve also been pleased to support some of our colleagues, customers and suppliers in their pursuits:
Pilbeam Construction’s European cycle challenge will see the team hop on the bike and travel from Brussels o Brighton in aid of Brighton & Hove Mayor’s charities.
Chris Patterson is taking on 52 marathons in 52 weeks in aid of Hope for Children.
Natasha from Pioneer Shopfitting is running the London Marathon in aid of the British Heart Foundation! In support of their colleague’s cause, Pioneer Shopfitting has generously pledged to match any donation made to the cause.
Our very own Sherwin Polius is also taking part in a marathon – running the Salisbury 10k in June to help fundraise for prostate screening for men through Lions Club of Salisbury and District charity.
